Detroit CYC ski/snow boarding day!

Feb 2007 027

The Higgs (iz) invited me along on a little weekend trip to Detroit this past weekend so they could pick up the Burt siblings (Miriam and Daniel) who are visiting from England! It so happened it was the Detroit CYC ski day and they needed up to go so that they would get the discount! Here is Jen S. myself, Cassy H. Miriam and Daniel B.

Feb 2007 034 Cass and I didn't have a glass tan... yet...It was a beautiful day though!

Feb 2007 035

On this 'black diamond' (ONLY in Detroit) there was a little racer hut that we decided to have a few runs threw! I think Sab won this race :)

Feb 2007 044

In the afternoon, a few of us taught all the ski'ers how to snowboard! It was some pretty entertaining times! However, they were very fast learners!

Feb 2007 043

Candace and Sabrina

Feb 2007 052

Cassy instructing her keen pupils on the fine art of the 'heel side'...

Feb 2007 064

I think some people just liked it on the ground :)

Feb 2007 066

We eventually progressed to a slightly larger hill with a rope tow... honestly this was the hardest part of the entire day!

 Feb 2007 072

Unfortunately, we had one casualty. Jen went down and twisted her knee... the Hill Patrol basically insisted that they tow Jenn away in their little basket instead of hoping her back.. who are we to argue!

Feb 2007 076

Miriam and Daniel were not going to be distracted from their chance to learn how to snow board!

Feb 2007 079

At least Jen was in good spirits :)

Feb 2007 077

Feb 2007 084

We eventually made it to the ski lift! For any new snowboarders.. you know how intimidating this can be! With a little help, everyone did great!

Feb 2007 092

Aww.. sisters!

Feb 2007 095

Candace decided to stop studying, helped out teaching people and than stole Jerusha identity to go down the slopes a few times :)

Feb 2007 065

Notice the same clothing... :)

All in all a very good weekend! I had not seen alot of people from Detroit in a while so it was awesome to spend some time and fellowship with them. Mike Live had an awesome CYC dinner that was Youth Conference themed with various foods from camp. For CYC we watch a movie on Israel and them gaining their independence... very cool!

Love in the precious hope,

I had an awesome weekend and I wish it wasn't over... Monday's are LONG days at school. This past weekend my parents and my brother came to watching a university vball game at my school and then we went out to supper together. My sister was down in Ladore for the weekend and had an awesome time, and said that James D's talks were awesome on Spiritual warefar. "Put on the WHOLE armour of God" we can't pick and choose depending on the day.

My brother gave his FIRST TALK for Sunday lecture and apparently did a really good job! He talked on the promises, and what he wrote was awesome ... Sorry I missed it Nick! After work Sunday afternoon and an intramural vball game, I drove to my aunt and uncle house in Mississauga for a 'Superbowl' party that our large family has together every year. It was good to see everyone again in a one shot deal... I think we do it for the food and the hot tub more than the game :)

Bible readings: Not that long ago we read "Lead me to the rock that is higher than I" in Psalms, and that has been a little personal motto over the past week as school is beginning to pile up. "I press toward the mark" ... and that is most certain NOT talking about school. Good news though,.. this is my last semester of university! :D (Well, at least for now ;))

God bless!

Handel's Messiah Night!

On Dec 16th, 15 awesome sisters and friends ventured to down town TO and watch Handel's Messiah! I had an exam that day... so I raced over to Sabrina's house ASAP where everyone was having supper and getting ready before the show

On the ride back home, Sab spotted a tenor choir member, asked for his autography and posed for pictures.. unfortunately I don't have one.. but it was pretty funny :D

Handel's Night 06 - Abby D and Beky

Abby D and I :D Afterwards Abby D, Joanne C., and Emily P, took Rachel to catch a 1 am bus to Manitoulin Island. We basically chilled in the bus station and tried not to fall asleep.. good times :D

Awesome motivating verse...

1 Chronicles 28:20 And David said to Solomon his son,

Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

Virginia and Angels Study Day

VIRGINIA PICTURES!!!... finally!

Petersburg was get again awesome! The talks were amazing! Especially the 'google earth' talk were Bro John showed the alliances of the "North and South King". Really brought it to life... especially for a visual learner like myself!

I was able to plead with my parents to take the "Golden Camel" as it was appropriately named on the trip to the Ables' Stable. My car load went almost 8 hours without stopping... hence they are camels! Regardless... it still took us 14 hours 52 min and 32 seconds to get down there! There were U'ys, hour long boarder stops, car accidents...and alot of good times had by all! Sabrina H, James R., Bethany C., Hannah E. and Liz M. were my delightful passengers. James was having hot flashes, Bet and Liz were the gigglers, Sab was the competitive navigator, and Hannah was the offical car monitor (she record the trip in detail)

Petersburg Weekend 06 131

The "Golden Camel" ready for the return trip

Petersburg Weekend 06 154

... as we are sitting in Washington Traffic. We are still not sure HOW we ended up in Washington... but we drove around and saw the White house (although there are alot of important looking white houses....), The Holocaust Museum, and the War Memorial. Very cool little detour.

Petersburg Weekend 06 155

We took pictures of anything that looked important... :D

After that... we pretty much just took roads that said North! :D Some went even on the maps we had! We made great time though, and managed to cut into the boarder line that we couldn't see the end of! :D Yikes!

Angels Study Day was awesome... Bro Jim said "You are going to go home with someone else in the car with you" and he was right! It was good to be reminded about the Angels and how they are constantly at work in our lives and the events going on in the world today. Bro Jim kept reminding us how much "FUN" the angels must have had doing God's bidding. His excitement was contagious! :D "Bless Yahweh Ye His Angels" :D
